The XPG Gammix S50 Lite M.2 NVMe

The XPG Gammix S50 Lite M.2 NVMe - Fast, Reliable and revolutionary!

ADATA over the years has grown and expanded exponentially, catering now not only with its wide range of storage options in forms of SSDs and RAMs but also in form of the gaming peripherals such as keyboards and mice. Quite recently they launched their version of a PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD in form of the XPG S50 Lite,  hopping onto the latest trend in the industry but considering its one of the, if not the, cheapest option in the market today under the PCI 4.0 tag it kind of makes everyone curious as to how this thing would perform!

Thanks to ADATA I have one on the table today and boy its impressive from the packaging itself! The S50 Lite comes in three capacity variants of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB which should be more tan enough for everyone in the market. It is a M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD which comes rated at The company covers the 1TB model for up to 740 TB of writes within its five-year warranty and to sustain upwards of 540,000/540,000 random read/write IOPS and dish out up to 3.9/3.2 GBps of sequential read/write throughput. Over all a solid rating for a product of this category and price and talking about the pricing the XPG S50 Lite 1TB is priced in at $150 or ₹11,500 in India.

Packing and Closer Look

ADATA brings the XPG Gammix S50 Lite in a shiny red packaging with the product image right in the center along with all the details that one would require on top such as capacity, connectivity standards etc. A bit too shiny for my taste but then its subjective.
At the back we have the usual details along with  other markings. The SSD rests in a clamp-shell packaging inside the box which is good enough for ease in transportation.

The XPG Gammix S50 Lite is a 2280 form factor M.2 drive which uses a dual sided PCB layout with the NAND chips, controller and DRAM chips located on both the sides of this black PCB wafer. It connects via the PCIe 4.0x4 standards so you can expect nearly double the speeds of a conventional PCIe 3.0x4 drive.

The heatshield is brushed aluminum and as per ADATA can reduce the operating temperatures of the SSD by almost 20% which is needed since at high speeds SSDs are bound to thermal throttle.

Silicon Motion’s SM2267 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 SSD controller powers the Adata XPG Gammix S50 Lite. It is a quad channel controller unlike the 8-channel ones we usually see on other PCIe Gen 4.0 SSDs and has a dual core 28nm Arm Cortex R5 CPU for data handling and processing. It also features a DRAM cache and has a single SK hynix 8Gb (1GB) DDR4 DRAM IC for buffer storage. The four memory ICs located in a pair of two on each side of the PCB are Intel/Micron 96-layer 3D TLC NAND with a 256GB capacity each.

Test Setup and Benchmarks

We used our usual testbench to benchmark the ADATA XPG Gammix S50 Lite 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD -

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Motherboard: MSI Prestige X570 Creation WiFi
RAM: Antec Katana 16GB 3200Mhz
Cooler: NZXT X53 240mm RGB
Graphics Card: Inno3D RTX 3090 iChill X4
Storage: Kingston A400 256GB
Secondary Storage: ADATA XPG Gammix S50 Lite 1TB NVMe M.2
Power Supply: Antec HCG1000 1000W 80+ Gold
Case: NZXT H510 Elite
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

TRIM Check

Since this is a very new SSD for us so it called for some new testing suits aswell, one such tool is TrimCheck which verifies if TRIM function on the drive is working perfectly or not.

The test shows that TRIM is working perfectly on the SSD.

Crystal Disk Info v8.11.2

Crystal Disk Info is a great tool for displaying the characteristics and health of storage devices. It displays everything from temperatures, to the number of hours the device has been powered, and even to the extent of informing you of the firmware of the device.

Crystal Disk Info shows us that a bunch of useful SMART attributes are presented to the end user. Total reads and writes as well as NAND writes are shown. The firmware version we are testing with today is version 82A7T9PA with the drive working at optimum temperatures even during summers.

ATTO Disk

ATTO Disk Benchmark measures transfer rates across specific lengths for any storage system. ATTO uses RAW data, I set my transfer size from 0.5 to 8192kb. This is generally the most reliable benchmarks for today's SSDs.

We can clearly see that the speed put up by the S50 Lite are in coherence with the advertised speeds and is performing as expected.

CrystalDiskMark

CrystalDiskMark is a disk benchmark software that analyses different types of hard drive. Giving sequential benchmark write and read statistics in MB/s. A simple program that is very useful.

A similar scenario is what we are seeing here aswell.

Anvil Storage Utility

The next test is Anvil Storage Utilities, which is a really great piece of software. The SSD benchmark gives you scores for both read and write as well as a combined score.

Identical results yet again in terms of performance aswell as on the IOPS end which is same as that on the specification sheets.

AS SSD

The AS SSD software determines the performance of Solid State Drives (SSD). The tool contains five synthetic and three practice tests. The synthetic tests determine the sequential and random read and write performance of the SSD. These tests are performed without using the operating system caches. In Sequential tests, the program measures the time it takes to read and write a 1 GB file respectively.

With an impressive score of above 5006 points the XPG S50 Lite blazes ahead of any PCIe 3.0 SSD in the market today, including the Copy benchmark which emulates real life performance compromising of miscellaneous data types and sizes.

AIDA64 Extreme Edition v5.97.4600

AIDA64 is one of the best tools out there to check the system stability, error diagnostics and even to validate overclocking.
It has a set of suites for almost every hardware out there including SSD/HDD. So we started of with AIDA64 disk suites.

As we can see that the drive is hitting the advertised speeds and is extremely consistent in read and write activities. This is a very good indications since most drives including the XPG SX8000 tend to fluctuate a lot in the Linear and Random Read tests indicating towards a more solid and consistent performance by the S50 Lite.

PCMark 10

PCMark 10 is specifically designed to stress test the entire system for a variety of daily tasks in an emulated fashion, the test ranges from application load time to daily office and personal tasks such as editing Excel sheets to video conferencing etc. It gives a more thorough insight into the real world performance of the storage drive.

A brilliant performance presented by the S50 Lite yet again with a total score of 6134, where its beating others by a substantial margin! The drive is not only extremely consistent but shows really high speeds.

My Verdict

ADATA under its XPG lineup always brings something new to the table and the S50 Lite is no exception! The drive performs as advertised and does exactly what's expected making it tick all the right boxes.

The drive is powered by a new quad channel Silicon Motion’s SM2267 controller which is no slouch  at handling the 1TB memory thanks to the 1GB onboard buffer chip. Its speed are not the fastest but are way ahead of the conventional PCIe 3.0 drives and extremely close if not ahead of the more expensive options in the market that are PCIe 4.0 rated and are equipped with a eight channel controller hence not only being costlier but also more power hungry compared to the S50 Lite.

In our tests the drive stayed relatively cool hitting 70°C under full consistent load which is lower than what most PCIe 4.0 SSDs would hit. The drive offers great write speeds but where it really shine is read speeds which in real life means that windows boot up, game load times, anti virus scans and even data retrieval for editing or any other read intensive task would be completed quickly making it one of the best options for gamers and since its XPG lineup its hitting the right market with the right performance.

"With blazing fast speeds and relatively cheap price tag, the XPG S50 Lite offers everything that one can ask for this price. Decent price and high read speeds make the S50 Lite and ideal option for gamers and content creators alike."

Pro -

  • Affordable Price Tag
  • Blazing fast speed
  • Minimalist Design
  • Lower operating temperatures
  • AES 256-bit full-disk encryption
  • 5-year warranty

Cons -

  • Slower write speeds

[REVIEW] Speedlink SL-6556-BK GAMEPAD

I have been using this gamepad for a week now. It's one of the best alternative to an Xbox controller.I am an avid Video Gamer and I love playing FPS games using keyboard and mouse.I am also a fan of PES and FIFA.I have used a ton of gamepads in the past which includes the xbox and one from Logitech.I always loved the layout and ergonomics of an X-BOX controller over a PS3 one.
I am glad that I have this Speedlink gamepad which is an exact replica of an XBOX controller.I have tried this gamepad with a
couple of games.I have mentioned the performance of this gamepad in the review section.

watch video review>>>

NOTE:This Gamepad also works with PlayStation 3 and Android TV.

Packaging and In-box Contents
----------------------------------------

-It comes with basic cardboard packaging.
-Instruction manual
-Installation disk
-XEOX Gamepad

REVIEW
------------

Well the first thing I loved about the gamepad is the awesome build quality and looks it has.The entire body is rubberised and feels very soft and comfortable to hold. The body looks like a smoke black painted one ,which is fabulous in my opinion. The rubberised material may help your palm stay sweat free while using for prolonged gaming .One more good thing about this gamepad is its ability to switch from an XBOX controller to a regular Direct input controller. You can toggle it using the small button below the Gamepad. Because of this ,it will work with every windows PC game.

The gamepad has a very lengthy wire ,just shy of 2m.I would recommend the wireless version of this gamepad for those who hate being wired.Anyway nothing bad about the wired version ,it surely gets the job done and does save some of your money. The quality of the wire it good and seems durable. The ends are coated with hard rubberised material which prevents the wire bending from end.

The installation of the product was really quick.Just like a plug and play device, windows automatically installed the device drivers and I didn't even had to put the installation CD.As i mentioned earlier It comes with all the controls that an XBOX controller has with an addition of a rapid fire button. The rapid fire function may prove handy while playing shooting games like such as Call Of Duty, Halo, Counter Strike or Battlefield.

#BUTTONS FUNCTIONING:
-------------------------------------
It comes with two pressure sensitive analog trigger buttons,2 360 degree analog sticks and 10 Digital buttons. All the buttons were functioning flawlessly ,The analog sticks were really smooth in controlling. The trigger buttons were very precise with pressure sensing .The face buttons were a little stiff for my liking.I had to press really hard sometimes in order to make them work.On the other hand ,the face buttons on my XBOX controller were the one I loved. But some people would love stiff buttons if they are used to them. The Dpad was very easy to work around. The bumper buttons were really clicky as they should be.
The XEOX button at the center lights up when you press on it.All for LED's will light up for Xinput.

#Gaming Performance
-----------------------------
The first game I tried with this gamepad was PES 2015.The put it in the X-input mode and all the buttons were functions just as an xbox controller.Only X and B face buttons were swapped, which can be tweaked in the settings. The analog stick was very to move the player. And vibrations were working correctly.

I also tried this game with DON BRADMAN cricket which intern is my favourite cricket Video game.I put the gamepad in Direct input mode for its functioning; All the functions and controls are pre-configured in the settings and all of them works perfectly with this gamepad. The gamepad vibrates when you hit the ball or you get injured. The left analog stick is used to decide between front foot or back foot shot and the right analog stick is for playing shot. The right bumper button is to come down the crease and play a lofted shot.
AND SO ON''.

The other games that i tried include NFS MW, NFS Rivals , FIFA 2013 ,European truck simulator and many more pending. The gamepad worked fine with all of these.
I didn't try FPS games because i always prefer keyboard and mouse for the same.

#Conclusion
---------------
All in all I am very satisfied with the gamepad ,The quality and finishing is at par with other gamepads I tried. The buttons are functioning great except the face buttons I mentioned ,which you will get used to in a couple of days. The ergonomics are really great and perfect for your comfort. All the buttons are positioned very nicely. And the best part is ,It works with every windows PC game.So you don't need to worry about compatibility. Also it has vibration support which is missing in my Logitech gamepad.
Considering the build quality and the soft rubberised material it uses ,you cannot skim on this gamepad if you really opt to buy one at this price.

So, that's it from the review ,If you have any questions then please feel free to drop an email.
I hope my review was helpful.

REVIEW / GEEKTITAN DESKTOP CHARGER [VIDEO]

Buy this device from amazon India here : http://goo.gl/2f0gg1

This is the review for GeekTitan Desktop charger. So ,with this multi port USB charger you can charge any device which uses a USB charging port. As, it has 6 USB ports you can charge upto 6 device simultaneously. As stated my the manufacturer this Desktop charger can deliver upto 2.4A output from each port.
Well it doesn't end here ,this device is also equipped with SMARTIQ charging technology which helps it deliver right amount of current to the connected devices. The traditional charger comes with an a current output range of 500ma-2A For eg : Nokia lumia 730's supplied charger has only 750ma output which in my sense is very less.At the same time Oneplus X is supplied with 2A charger.
So I have tested this device with a few devices and the output is quite satisfying. The devices tested were YU yureka ,Nokia Lumia 730,Oneplus X ,Coolpad note 3 ,Brainwavz Bluetooth handset and the Nokia 215.
----------------------
THINGS I LIKED
----------------------
-Much more convenient than traditional chargers. You can keep this devices on Desktop ,making the charger more accessible.
-You can keep this Charger always plugged in to power supply.
-Only USB's are needed.
-Charges the device faster than traditional chargers (results are furnished below).
-Not heating issue with the desktop charger.
-Very lightweight and portable.
-Can charge any USB device.
-Its smart. It automatically detects the output needed by a device.
-Prevents Over Charging.
-Upto 6 devices can be connected simultaneously.

To checkout it's fast charging capabilities here are the results.

-Coolpad note 3 took approx. 2 hours 45 mins to full charge ,while with the original charger it took almost 3 hours.
-Oneplus X took 2 hours and 30 mins to full charge while the original charger did that in 2 hours 10 mins.(oneplus X comes with a 2A fast charger already).
-Lumia 730 took 2 hours and 50 mins to full charge while the original charger took 3 hours 5mins

I didn't time the charging speed with other devices though I have no complaints with this charger. It fully charged all of the devices in almost the same time that the original chargers does.In some cases the results were even better.
So,I think this charger is smart enough to output right amount of current. From what I have tested I would conclude by saying that ,Geektitan charger may charge your device much faster if your device is supplied with a 1.5A or less Ampere charger.
(The result may vary from device to device).

-------------------
CONCLUSION
-------------------
It's a must buy desktop charger if you have multiple devices which utilise USB port for charging. And especially if you want a more convenient way of charging. This could really help if you are staying in a hostel and are short of charging ports.I have already replaced all of my bundled chargers with this one.
I would surely recommend this device. Also Geektitan is offering 12 months limited warranty which again is a good thing.

Windows 10 Mobile build 10536-Review [LATEST]

Insiders updating from Build 10512 will need to update their devices twice. You will see Build 10514 and Build 10536.1000. Run these updates. After these updates are installed, you’ll receive another update which will be Build 10536.1004. This process will take a bit more time than usual but this update has all the important fixes for Build 10536 so you will want to make sure you take BOTH updates. If you don’t have a problem going back to Windows Phone 8.1, you can update directly to this build (10536.1004).
Here are some of the improvements we’ve made since the last build:
  • Insider Hub is now included again!
  • Mobile hotspot functionality has been fixed.
  • Voice input has been updated to add support for Japanese and English (India) speech recognition.
  • Single hop updates are again available from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview for all devices.
  • Two-factor authentication is fixed when setting up a device for both text and phone authentication.
  • Start screen will successfully load instead of failing with “Loading …” displayed in a loop until device was rebooted. (We are still tracking down an issue were it may show “Loading …” for a few seconds.)
  • Quite Hours\Do Not Disturb has been fixed.
  • Delay in showing date and time on Lock screen has been improved.
  • Pinch and zoom in Maps now works as expected.
Updated Photos app: The Photos app has been updated to include features you have been asking for to help you do more with your photos. This update introduces a folder view that makes it easy for you to see your OneDrive and PC folders in the Photos app. On your phone, you can also see folders on your SD card.
W10_Phone_Photos_Folders_9x16_en-US_adines-01-new
This update also brings faster photo viewing and context menus. Specifically, for phones, zoom and panning is faster. Make sure you’re running the latest version of the Photos app from the Store to see all these improvements on your phone (version 15.9).
W10_Laptop_Photos_Folders_16x9_en-US
This update hasn’t yet rolled out for PCs but will roll out shortly.
One-handed mode: When we introduced one-handed mode for larger phones, we heard feedback saying many Insiders would like it even on smaller devices. In this build, we have also enabled the ability to use one-handed mode on all phones which can be enabled by pressing and holding the Start button. When you do this, your screen will slide down so you can reach items at the top of your screen.
wp_ss_20150909_0001
To slide the screen back up, tap the black space at the top of the screen, or press and hold the Start button again. One-handed use will also naturally time out after several seconds and return to your regular view. Give it a try and let us know what you think.
Share your feedback: Also as we have previously announced on the Windows Insider Preview build 10527 for PC, you can now share your feedback submitted through the Windows Feedback app.
Mobile-Share-Feedback
Here are a few known issues for you to take note of for this build:
  • After rebooting your phone, you won’t see notifications, such as new messages, until you unlock your phone. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine.
  • “zStorage” appears in the Settings app under System and clicking on it causes the Settings app to crash.
  • Camera upload to OneDrive may not be enabled based on prior settings. To fix this, make sure you are running the latest version of OneDrive by opening the top left navigation bar, then settings on the right to verify that camera upload is turned on and you have the latest app (version 17.2).
  • Insiders will not be able to move from Slow to Fast rings temporarily; we are working on a fix but in the interim to move a device from Slow to Fast you will need to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to first start on Windows Phone 8.1 and opt directly into the Fast ring.
  • Additional languages for speech and keyboards won’t be available until tomorrow (9/15) and will error if you try to download. If you already have languages for speech and keyboards downloaded to your phone prior to upgrading, they will remain and available to use.
We also wanted to talk a little bit about Lumia 1020 camera features on Windows 10. Owners of the Lumia 1020 love using their phone’s amazing camera to capture high-fidelity photos and videos. If you recently upgraded your Lumia 1020 to a Windows 10 Insider Preview build, you might have been disappointed that your camera wasn’t working like you expect. Many of the Lumia 1020’s camera features, like 41MP capture and DNG files, only work with the Lumia Camera app. While the app works with Windows 10 Mobile, it won’t be available for download from the Store until later this fall.
To get all your Lumia 1020 camera features back, you need the Lumia Camera app installed on your phone. The easy solution is to wait until the app is available in the Store. If you don’t want to wait, you need to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to return to Windows Phone 8.1 in order to get the app back.
Note: These issues only affect the Lumia 1020. If you have a different Lumia phone, the default Windows Camera app already supports all Lumia features except Living Images, which are coming soon to the Lumia phones that have them today!

3D touch screen in smartphone. Supersensitive

Nowadays most of the smartphones have super sensitive touch screens.

And sometimes you can use it without physical contact.Just move your thumb or finger over the screen,it will automatically sense the presence.

This happens because of the proximity sensor it has.

Same goes with my Lumia 730,which i have shown in the Video.

But actually the proximity sensor in mobile phones use IR-based proximity sensors to detect the presence of a human ear. This sensing is done for two purposes: Reduce display power consumption by turning off the LCD backlight and to disable the touch screen to avoid inadvertent touches by the cheek

Possibly its not 3D touch, its just the faulty proximity sensor.

Windows 10 mobile Build 10512 review

Build 10512 of the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview is now available for Windows Insiders on the Fast ring.
This build don't include any new features rather it fixes thousands of bugs. This time its much more stable than 10166 as of my initial use on LUMIA 730.
Gabe Aul says "I expect the builds to be out more frequently again as we go forward from here. Our major focus on Windows 10 Mobile right now is on improvements to core quality."
Thus we can expect more new builds....
Lumia 730/735 actually runs the preview pretty well.

#Fixed these issues:

-General improvement in overall stability and performance.
-You can now set the Lock screen and background image from within the Photos app.
-We fixed an issue where apps installed on SD cards weren’t working after a reboot.
-We have improved Latvian and Chinese inputs.
-We have made improvements to the Kid’s Corner tile layout.
-We have improved reliability of Data Sense notifications.
-Modified Shape Writing algorithm to be less aggressive in suggesting contact names over common words.
-Resolved an issue where Camera would not launch when the phone was locked.
-We fixed an issue where notifications for incoming text messages weren’t appearing.
-We fixed an issue where the touch screen wouldn’t be responsive after ending a phone call on some devices.
-And we fixed an issue where folder tiles have obviously overlapping text.

#We do have a few known issues for you to take note of for this build:

-Mobile hotspot doesn’t work in this build. When sharing the Internet from your phone using Mobile Hotspot, devices will fail to get a valid IP address from your phone and will show no internet access.
-Two-factor authentication for your MSA with a phone number doesn’t work in this build. If you reset your phone and go through the first run experience, you won’t be able to input more than 2 characters for validating phone or text authentication. If you have a secondary email for two-factor authentication – you can choose that. As a workaround, add secondary email for two-factor authentication.
-Some phones might spend a long time in the post update migration experience – just let the phone sit and it should complete this migration.
-Apps that use background audio such as Groove, Podcast, Pandora, etc. will crash when launching after receiving an app update from the Store. Rebooting the device will resolve this issue.
Some phones with a large number of tiles pinned to the Start screen may get stuck in a state where the device shows “Loading…”; the device will need to be reset or rolled back to Windows Phone 8.1 using Windows Phone Recovery Tool.
Some apps may fail to update through the Store with the error code 0x80073cf9; uninstalling the application and reinstalling it will resolve this issue.
-The Movies & TV app will not work in this build (video playback is currently broken).(But in lumia 730 it works fine)
